December 29, 2025
Dear Patrons,
We want to share an important update regarding parking at the Herndon Parking Ramp, which is located next door to the Hoogland Center for the Arts.
The parking ramp is independently owned by Downtown Springfield Parking, Inc., which has recently hired a new management company to operate the facility. Beginning in 2026, the garage will be managed by Metropolis, a company that operates parking facilities in cities across the country. The Hoogland Center for the Arts is not involved in the ownership or management of the parking ramp.
For many years, the Hoogland had an arrangement with Downtown Springfield Parking, Inc. that allowed free parking in the ramp for our patrons during performances. Unfortunately, this agreement will conclude on December 31, 2025, and the new management system will take effect starting in the new year. First Night Springfield on December 31st will be the last event where the parking is free.
Beginning January 1, 2026, patrons will need to register with Metropolis. Registration can be completed in advance at https://app.metropolis.io/ by following the prompts and entering your cell phone number, license plate number, and payment information. After this one-time setup, your license plate will be automatically read when you enter and exit the garage. You may also register by scanning the QR code posted at the garage.
Parking rates will be $2.49 for the first hour (including processing fees), with each additional hour at $1.50. The daily maximum is $10.99. A receipt will be sent via text message upon exit. This system is similar to those currently used in many other cities.
We recognize that this represents a change for many of our patrons, and that adjusting to a new process can be frustrating at first. Our staff is committed to helping make this transition as smooth as possible. Reminder emails will be sent before performances, and clear signage will be posted throughout the Hoogland to guide patrons through the process.
In addition to the parking ramp, free street parking remains available throughout downtown Springfield.
We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding, and we thank you for continuing to support the Hoogland Center for the Arts. We remain dedicated to providing a welcoming experience and outstanding entertainment for our community.
If you have any questions about parking or your ticket purchase, our box office is open 10am-5pm Monday-Friday and 2 hours before a ticketed event.
We can be reached by email at info@hcfta.org.
