Weekday Educational Courses


Weekday educational courses offer students the ability to dive deep into a specific area of the performing arts.  Taught by Central Illinois professionals, your child will gain top quality skills that will prepare them for the life of a theatre performer!


Theses courses are available to any student and students can enroll any time during the year depending upon class availability.  For questions, email education@hcfta.org.




Fall Weekday Courses

Dancing FULL OUT!: Grades 1-3

August 15-September 26: Wednesday Nights 5:00-6:00PM

Is your child filled with so much energy dancing around the house?  Bring them to Dancing FULL OUT!  They will explore various styles of dance, work on coordination through dance routines, and experience the joy of Broadway choreography!


Broadway Singing Stars!: Grades 4-8

August 15-September 26: Wednesday Nights 5:00-6:00PM

Your child will find their own unique voice in this class!  With instruction by trained professionals, your child will obtain a solid foundation in understanding musical theatre singing and put it into practice!


Makeup Design for Teens: Grades 8-12

Thursdays, August 16, 23, 30, & September 6 from 5:00-7:00PM

Find your hidden skills at designing makeup for theatrical productions!  Through this class, you will learn techniques that will prepare you for performing as a jungle creature, adding 80 years to your face, or creating a fabulous Broadway look!  Spots are limited in this class.  Enroll early!






Winter Weekday Courses

Act FULL OUT!: Grades 1-3

October 3-November 28: Wednesday Nights 5:00-6:00PM

Rising actors and actresses are perfect students to this course.  Your child will start to discover script reading, pantomime, improvisation, and portraying characters FULL OUT!


Broadway Dancing Stars!: Grades 4-8

October 3-November 28: Wednesday Nights 5:00-6:00PM

A dance course discovering multiple types of theatre dancing-this is the best workout for your child! Be prepared to break a sweat dancing to pop musicals and twirling in classical theatre works!


Dance Training for Teens: Grades 8-12

Thursdays, October 4, 11, 18, & 25 from 5:00-7:00PM

Work on expanding your dance skills in musical theatre with an extensive course in traditional and contemporary theatre choreography.  From jazz, tap, and modern, your teen will receive a broad experience in musical theatre dancing!





New Year Weekday Courses

Sing FULL OUT!: Grades 1-3

January 9-February 27: Wednesday Nights 5:00-6:00PM

Break out into dance with this fun course discovering the singer in us all! From learning songs from various Broadway shows, your child will experience the magic of theatre music and feel comfortable performing in front of others!


Broadway Acting Stars!: Grades 4-8

January 9-February 27: Wednesday Nights 5:00-6:00PM

Does your child have a personality larger than life? Let them unleash that talent onstage in the exciting course of acting. With creating characters that will make you laugh and cry, your child will feel at home onstage with using their unlimited imagination!


Advanced Singing Techniques: Grades 8-12

Thursdays, January 10, 17, 31, & February 7 from 5:00-7:00PM

Learn how to perform a song that will give you standing ovations!  A class focusing on the presentation of song in theatre and various ways to communicate with the audience.  Let your nerves disappear and find the joy in singing!





Spring Weekday Courses

Let’s Put On A Show!: Grades 1-3

Wednesdays, April 3, 10, 17, 24 from 5:00-7:00PM

A course allowing students to discover all areas of the performing arts, they will work towards presenting a skit at the end of the course with their hand work and expertise!  What a fun way to gain new talents and skills!


Broadway Triple Threats!: Grades 4-8

Wednesdays, April 3, 10, 17, 24 from 5:00-7:00PM

Singing, acting, and dancing OH MY!  This course combines all three of these skills into making your young performer the star of a Broadway stage.  Taught by area professionals, your Broadway star will shine brightly!


Advanced Teen Acting: Grades 8-12

Thursdays, April 4, 11, 18, & 25 from 5:00-7:00PM

An in-depth study of scripts and monologues, this is the class for the aspiring actor to fine tune their craft. With monologue work and partner scenes, this will make any teen feel comfortable being expressive onstage!
